Post date: November 21, 2014

Thank you to EVERYONE who participated in Vincent’s group birthday gift!  Here’s a photo of Vincent with his new Nikon DSLR camera that you ALL helped to get for him!  It was so much fun working together with you all — conspiring (I mean planning!) this gift.  Really appreciated everyone’s excitement and enthusiasm!  Please scroll down past the photo to read Vincent’s thank you message to everyone. I also want to personally thank you, not only for participating in the gift project, but for always supporting Vincent!!!  Hugs to you all, ~Rachel

Vincent's Birthday 2014

My dear, dear, DEAR FOVI and wonderful supporting friends,

I want to thank each and every one of you for the amazing gift you surprised me with this past birthday. I can’t even describe how stunned I was to receive such a thoughtful gift such as the camera you each contributed towards!

I’ve also read all of your sweet birthday messages you’ve sent me through Rachel, and I was truly moved by the loving support and generous outpouring of kindness you each shared. And Janet’s card was perfect, as it always is! (Thank you, once again, sweet Janet, for sharing your wonderful talent and gift with me!)

Many of you I’ve known throughout the long years, some longer than others. There are also a number of you I’ve come to meet personally, whether at past FOVI events, my cabaret events or at many personal appearances throughout the years. I can honestly say that I’m humbled by the support you continue to show towards me, especially since I haven’t been a consistent presence on any show these past few years, as you were accustomed to seeing me on in the past. Especially given that fact, your collective generosity is something I couldn’t possibly take for granted.

I also want to thank Rachel for being such a dear friend, an invaluable support system for me these past few years in so many ways, in rallying all of you together to share your kindness with me on my birthday. You all helped to make it very special, indeed. Believe me, I plan on putting the camera to very good use and am excited to do so. And when I do, I’m looking forward to sharing what was made possible by you all, with you all…

Thank you my dear friends!!! A big, grateful, group hug with you all from LA!

Vincent’s Tribute to Joan Rivers

Post date: September 7, 2014

Today, a very special talent is being laid to rest in NYC. Joan Rivers has been with us in popular culture for, honestly, as long as I can remember. I would watch her with my parents as a young boy on Johnny Carson all those years ago, and yet, she was still going as strong as ever right up until the end. Even though she was 81 when her life came to an end, it still feels as if she was taken from us too prematurely in that she clearly had so much vitality left in her, her razor sharp wit as entertaining as always… Please enjoy the clip I’ve uploaded in her honor. It was shot years ago when she joined us for a day on AMC, in a scene with me and Susan Lucci. I had the pleasure of meeting her twice professionally, on that day, and years earlier when I was a guest on her talk show while promoting Jackie Collins’ mini series, “Lucky Chances,” (she mispronounced my name while introducing me onto the show…something I’ve been laughing about in recollection with many others ever since : ) Regardless of how many times I’ve met her, she was a woman who was larger than life, one who always had the gift of leaving a lasting impression… May she rest in peace at Edgar’s side…

Vincent Accepts the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!

Post date: August 28, 2014

Vincent Irizarry accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in support of promoting awareness for the ALS Association (ALSA), and dedicated his participation to the memory of his former Guiding Light colleague, actor Michael Zaslow.  Vincent then levied his own challenge by nominating his three brothers-in law.  And, yes, before you ask — there was ice in the water!  Lots of it, but the hot California temps melted it.  View the fun video clip embedded below or click here to watch it on Vincent’s Facebook page to leave a comment and let us know what you thought!

ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.  ALSA is a non-profit organization leading the way in global research, care services, public education, and public policy, through a nationwide network of chapters. ALSA coordinates multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, fosters government partnerships, and enhances quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.

Donation tally update as of August 29, 2014:  The ALSA has topped $100 million in donations from people all over the globe who were moved to action by this summer’s Ice Bucket Challenge. As of August 29, the Association has received $100.9 million in donations compared to $2.8 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 29). “The word gratitude doesn’t do enough to express what we are feeling right now,” said Barbara Newhouse, President and CEO. “We recognize a profound sense of urgency and are engaged in discussions about how we’re going to put this money to work in the short term and into the future.”

If you wish to donate to ALSA visit their official website donation page here.

Vincent’s Birthday Thank You Message

Post date: November 19, 2013

As promised, for the fan club folks who participated in Vincent’s group birthday gift, here is a photo of him opening his gift bag & our group card during his birthday dinner.  Provided under the photo is an excerpt of the wonderful thank you message he penned to everyone. Thank you, not only for participating in the gift project, but for being so supportive of Vincent throughout these many years!

Vincent's Birthday (Nov 12, 2013)

Vincent’s Birthday (Nov 12, 2013)

My dear, dear AMC/FOVI friends,

I’m sending this to all of you for truly making my birthday such a special day this year! Thank you all for your generous gifts, your kind words and well wishes! I have to admit, I was completely taken by surprise to receive your gift bag, which made the day all the more special. After all these years of working in my business and field, I can honestly say that those of you who have supported the great many actors, such as myself, who have worked in the Daytime arena throughout all these years, are without question, the most loyal and generous of them all. Your words and gifts have truly touched my heart, just as many of you have so often done throughout these many years.

It was brought to my attention recently that last week, specifically on Nov. 14th, was my 30-year anniversary of airing on “Guiding Light” as “Lujack.” That was not only my first television role after 6 years of performing exclusively in theater, but also my first Daytime role and job as well. After all these years, creating characters on 3 other shows in the interim, journeying in and out of this genre throughout, and getting to know so many of you during all those years, I feel uniquely qualified to offer my prior assessment and assured belief that you are all part of a long, unparalleled tradition of loyal, passionate, and gracious supporters, equal to none. You continue to be a wonderful blessing to us all, as the success of shows such as ours have, and will always be, utterly dependent on the fervent support of people like you.

Thank you again, for the kindness and generosity extended to me on my birthday. You can be confident in knowing that I’m eternally grateful indeed…

Sending you all a great, big hug from LA,

Vincent

Vincent Irizarry Recommends Agnes Nixon as 2013 Kennedy Center Honoree

June 5, 2013

Kennedy Center Honoros

Without creator, Agnes Nixon, fans of the venerable daytime dramas, “All My Children,” and “One Life to Live” could not have enjoyed the past 40+ years of entertainment, experiencing the trials & tribulations of the residents of Pine Valley or Llanview!  To recognize Ms. Nixon for her accomplishments, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Ms. Nixon with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 37th annual Daytime Emmy Awards in 2010.

Vincent recently posted a wonderful idea via both his Facebook and Twitter to alert us to an opportunity to recommend Ms. Nixon for another deserved recognition — the Kennedy Center Honors!  Awarded by the President each year, the Kennedy Center Honors provide recognition to living individuals who throughout their lifetimes have made significant contributions to American culture through the performing arts in dance, music, theater, opera, motion pictures, and television.  The Honors have been presented annually since 1978 in Washington, DC, during gala weekend-long events that culminate in a ceremony awarding the Honorees at the Kennedy Center Opera House.

In his message, Vincent writes —

“Please read, everyone, regarding Agnes Nixon!  I’m sharing a link to submit a recommendation for the next Kennedy Center Honors, awarded by the President each year to those who have committed their lives in excellence for the arts.  Last year’s honorees were Dustin Hoffman, Led Zeppelin, David Letterman, Buddy Guy, and Natalia Makarova. For the 2013 award, I’ve already submitted my choice for AGNES NIXON, truly one of the great storytellers of our time, and pioneer of broadcasting in television, who has recently transitioned successfully, once again as a pioneer, from TV to New Media with the new incarnations of both “All My Children” & “One Life to Live” for the internet.”

“Join me in supporting our great national treasure, Agnes Nixon, by submitting your own recommendation for her to receive next year’s illustrious Kennedy Center Honor Award.  This could be our collective thank you to Ms. Nixon for all the years of joy she has brought to countless millions of us; throughout the many generations. Very few could possibly deserve it more…”

To join Vincent in forwarding Ms. Agnes Nixon’s name for consideration, please CLICK HERE to visit the Kennedy Center Honors website to submit your recommendation!

In May 2013, the Kennedy Center announced revisions to the Kennedy Center Honors selection process. The revisions include the addition of an advisory committee comprised of artists, former Honorees, and Kennedy Center board members as well as expanded solicitation of recommendations from the general public.

Vincent’s Message Re: AMC Airing Schedule Change

The Online Network

Post date: May 22, 2013

Greetings to you all from “Pine Valley!” In fact, I just returned the other night from a very successful 5 weeks of shooting “All My Children” in Connecticut, getting my life back on track on the home front since, but I’ve been wanting to address many of your comments/questions re: the news that AMC/OLTL is now going to be airing on Hulu and iTunes twice a week each, rather than the 4 times per week previously airing. First, I’d like to emphasize the positives that don’t seem to be getting enough attention since this news had been reported, which very much deserves mentioning. Our show was number one in viewing during the 1st week of airing on both Hulu and iTunes, while maintaining an extremely strong showing within the top 5 each week since! That’s news definitely worth celebrating, due in greater part to all of our dear, loyal viewers who have been watching faithfully since their return. So please accept our sincere collective thanks to you all, apart from whom we never could have accomplished any of this.

Please understand, the decision was made out of our producers being sensitive to the viewing patterns and busy lives of all our faithful viewers. They were able to analyze by the 3rd week, many viewers were still just watching shows from the 1st week, thereby having fallen behind by 12 hours of viewing at that time already; if they were watching both shows. Their decision was based on their genuine desire to prevent any of you from falling so far behind, whereas you begin to experience catching up as an obligation, or worse, as a burden. The content and stories of these shows are being produced as moving much faster than they originally were on network, with each episode being substantive and important not to miss. Also, even though they’re half-hour in length, that’s 25 mins of show time compared to 35 mins of show time on a 1 hour network soap. Not much of a difference, especially considering the density of each episode airing compared to those of the 1 hour network shows. Even those shows prepare themselves for viewers dropping off several days within the week, knowing that not all their episodes will be seen in their entirety, which is why they’re known for moving slower in pace and story, preventing those of you from missing story if any given show is not seen. Because of how fast our shows move, we don’t have that luxury, wishing you to miss nothing.

Considering that many of our favorite nighttime shows are 1 hour in length per week, with only 13 episodes per season, our 1 hour of shows each week, at 110 or more for the year, is again, an embarrassment of riches by comparison for those of us who love these shows and are excited to have the ability to enjoy them once again. Yes, it’s now “Anytime” rather than “Daytime,” and our producers are committed to helping us all enjoy these shows at our leisure, without the stress attached to falling way behind. With the great number of episodes being offered for this year, I’m confident that we’ll all be satisfied with the many hours of viewing pleasure available to us all. We, as a cast and production team, are extremely proud of our beloved shows airing, and can’t be more grateful to all of you for your overwhelming expressions of excitement and support for all we’re doing to bring these iconic shows back for you to enjoy. We’re also sincerely humbled by your very vocal expressions of love and enthusiasm for what you’ve all been seeing. It is ours, and most importantly, Prospect Park’s intention to do whatever possible to enable us to continue bringing these cherished shows into your homes, whether via your flat screens, your tablets, computers, or even your cell phones for many, many more years, and hopefully, generations to come.

Group hug, Vincent : )

Vincent Irizarry Signs With Prospect Park for Online Web Series Revival of All My Children!

Post date:  December 28, 2012

Vincent Irizarry has signed on with the production firm, Prospect Park, as it pursues its endeavor to produce an online web series version of the daytime drama All My Children!  After the ABC network canceled the 41-year series, Prospect Park secured licensing rights to produce the show online.  Although it cancelled its efforts in early 2012 due to difficulties with financial backing, Prospect Park recently reestablished talks with cast and production team members of All My Children and One Life To Live with an eye toward beginning production of half-hour episodes by February in Stamford, Connecticut.  More information forthcoming, so stay tuned!

All My Children’s Last Day with ABC…Exit Stage Left

   Official Vincent Irizarry Facebook

Tomorrow morning I will wake up to go to work on All My Children for the last time under ABC. It has been a wonderful, and even often times, seemingly magical ride all these years. As with all my fellow actors on the show, I don’t yet know where we’re going, but I certainly know where I’ve been. I couldn’t feel more privileged to have traveled this journey with many of you throughout these years, nor more grateful to have had the opportunity to play such an entertaining and rewarding character such as Dr. David Hayward. The depth of my gratitude to all of you is beyond measure, therefore, I thank you all ad infinitum… Keep the faith : )
