All My Children’s Last Day with ABC…Exit Stage Left

   Official Vincent Irizarry Facebook

Tomorrow morning I will wake up to go to work on All My Children for the last time under ABC. It has been a wonderful, and even often times, seemingly magical ride all these years. As with all my fellow actors on the show, I don’t yet know where we’re going, but I certainly know where I’ve been. I couldn’t feel more privileged to have traveled this journey with many of you throughout these years, nor more grateful to have had the opportunity to play such an entertaining and rewarding character such as Dr. David Hayward. The depth of my gratitude to all of you is beyond measure, therefore, I thank you all ad infinitum… Keep the faith : )

What a great night of music at the Canyon Club tonight, one of the best venues for music in LA! Beach Boys’ genius, Brian Wilson, performed all their hits with his wonderful band, even some reimagined Gershwin numbers. Also met Micky Dolenz of The Monkeys…very cool : ) It was an awesome night filled with “Good Vibrations” all around. Thank you, Brian…”God Only Knows,” how we feel about you…

Vincent’s Facebook Message – Diaries of Adam & Eve

   Official Vincent Irizarry Facebook

We opened in “The Diaries of Adam and Eve,” by Mark Twain, on Kauai the other night, and it went beautifully! The audience loved seeing it and was extremely appreciative. Been working really hard all week, but loving being in paradise. Everyone should come to Kauai and see our final performance next Friday evening. The island and the warmth of the people will definitely not disappoint!

Vincent’s Facebook Message – To Be Or Not to Be on AMC

   Vincent Irizarry

I’ve been getting a lot of questions from many of you, asking 2 things: am I going to the AMC Fan Event, and will I be staying with the show when it transitions to the internet? The first is easy, yes, I plan on being at the AMC Fan Event at the end of the month. The second, not so easy.  Some have even informed me that it was reported somewhere that I’m staying with the show. That is not at all true at this time. Until I hear from the new producers to learn what their plans are, I have to work under the assumption that my contract with the show ends on Aug 31 and plan accordingly, which I am. It’s an interesting turn of events, to say the least. Regardless of where all this might end up for us, the show, and everyone attached to it, to all of you who have faught so hard and with a passion to keep daytime alive, I will be forever grateful. Daytime fans continue to prove they are like none other : )

Vincent’s Letter to FOVI Regarding AMC

My dear, dear FOVI-ites,

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard the news about the canceling of our beloved “All My Children.”  I have no doubt that the news has been as upsetting to you as it has been for me and the rest of the cast, crew and production staff.  It is deeply sad to see us come to this end after all the years of wonderful storytelling and loyal viewing from countless followers throughout the generations.  Regardless of the heartbreak of it all, I’m confident I can speak not only for myself, but also for all those I’ve had the privilege of working beside, and say how grateful we all are for everyone’s steadfast support throughout these 41½ years.  We truly wouldn’t have lasted more than one episode without all of you.

Now, on a much more personal note, I want to extend my special thanks to each and every one of you as members of FOVI, for the years of faithful support of not only me, my work, and the show, but also most importantly, the many charities we have come together to aid.  You have enabled us to reach out to people who have been in real need, who have in turn, benefited immeasurably by your generosity, compassion, financial and volunteer support.  When we began FOVI, I believe somewhere over 10 years ago, it was almost as if it was an experiment, none of us knowing how it might turn out or if it would be successful.  We were committed to form something that would not be like other “fan clubs”, namely about fan support of me.  Instead, we sought to comprise a group of those who were appreciative of my work, coming together to give of their time, treasure, and hearts toward charitable organizations that touched both theirs and mine.  As a result, during these many years, we have raised over $100,000 for numerous charities, including offering ourselves as volunteers for some of those same organizations.  The fact is, although my name is attached to FOVI, our successes have been in much greater part the result of you, the “Friends Of” rather than me.  I can’t honestly put into words how honored I am to be associated with each of you throughout these many years and very successful endeavors.

As for these final months of AMC, I hope you will continue to watch.  It has been brought to our attention that the remaining stories bringing the show to its end will be very exciting and entertaining.  I’ve also been given an indication that Dr David will factor significantly in the telling of these stories, which I hope to be true.  I have been told similar things these past 8 months or so, only to be disappointed when the time came with how little they figured him into the story.  I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see.  But regardless, I have to believe, given the new writing team led by Lorraine Broderick, it is sure to be wonderful.  She was the Head Writer who did an amazing job of storytelling before this recent team took over.  She wrote stories with heart and substance, stories you clearly enjoyed watching given the numbers when she was writing, with the characters you clearly wanted to see, some of whom were absent during her departure.  She also wrote the show for many years during the course of its run.  Given these facts, I’m optimistic the stories will indeed live up to all they have been heralded in advance to be.

Thank you again, not only for your support of the show, but for making it at all possible for me to perform a character as challenging, satisfying, and immeasurably fun to play as our complex Dr. David Hayward for as many years as I have.  I will be very sad to say goodbye to him at the end of it all.  Where FOVI stands, I’m not really sure right now.  I hope we can continue it, but of course, that will depend on you and those who ultimately make it happen ~ the directors and team volunteers of FOVI, all of whom have remained tirelessly committed to everything we had set out to accomplish, to the great benefit of so many, myself included.  It really is due to the vision, hard work and committed support of each and every one of you, that we have enjoyed the breadth of success we have.

My heartfelt thanks to you all,
Vincent

Vincent’s Facebook Message re: AMC Cancellation News

In response to the incredibly sad news announced by ABC Daytime that both All My Children and One Life to Live had been cancelled by the network, with end dates in September 2011 and January 2011, respectively, Vincent posted the following message on his Facebook page to his  many fans  –

”Thank you, everyone, for all your dear words and loving support in response to the news that AMC/OLTL are going off the air. Believe me, I feel your pain & sadness. These shows have been a part of our cultural offerings, entertaining millions, and employing 100′s of thousands for generations. There is much to mourn in saying goodbye. On a positive note, we’ve been encouraged to learn that the stories taking us out during the coming months are excellent, very much worth being excited about. Therefore, stay tuned while we travel this parting journey together. I humbly thank you for keeping us on the air for an astonishing 41 1/2 yrs. My words couldn’t possibly ever be enough… Group hug : )  -Vincent”

Vincent’s Holiday Message to FOVI

Hello all you dear, wonderful FOVI-ites!!!  Another year has passed and gratefully, we’re all still standing.  Well, that’s not entirely accurate as Dr. D is currently convalescent while still in a coma.  Will he remain there indefinitely?  Will he not make it and leave the not-so-good citizens of Pine Valley permanently this time around for the most likely not-so greener pastures?  (I’d have to believe the temperature where Dr. D. ends up in the great beyond would prohibit the growth of any vegetation whatsoever).  Or will he finally come out of his coma to exact further punishment on those ungrateful neighbors who need yet loath him in equal measure?  The best answer to all of these questions is obviously, “Tune in and find out!”  With all that said, I do hope this letter finds you all in great spirits and with hearts filled to overflowing with seasonal joy for this holiday time.

I wanted to reach out to all of you to offer my thanks for all the amazing support you have continued to show me and my character, Dr. Davey, all these years, and even beyond Dr. D. for many of you.  Also, to thank you for the unending support you’ve shown to those charities you have kept close to your heart throughout these years since FOVI began, such as Feeding America this holiday season.  Collectively, we have made such a wonderful difference in the lives of so many, which is due in much greater part to all of you, your compassionate hearts, and your generous donations.  What an extraordinary blessing you have all been to all of them and to me as well.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

What an interesting year, to say the least.  Personally, I never saw this story coming!  First, to be “killed” for nearly 2 months, unable to even hint to the truth to even to my closest family, friends, and supporters, only to return from the dead, (c’mon, it happens all the time!  Doesn’t it? : ), to be shot and put into a coma a few short days later.  Hmmmm.  Yes, a very interesting year, indeed.  As I mentioned above, let’s all see how this plays out…

But through it all, I have continued to find great comfort and even greater appreciation for all of you as a result of your very vocal and steady support.  I am truly touched by your warmth and genuine kindness through it all, as I always have been.  These are facts I will never take for granted, nor can I ever truly thank you enough.

And as if that support hadn’t been enough, your beyond generous gifts to me continue to blow me away.  Thank you so much for the birthday gift at Amazon.com, as well as the fruit basket, (the pears were humongous, the largest I believe I’ve ever seen.  I think they were mutant pears!  And they were absolutely delicious!)  And Janet, I have to say, I believe you’ve outdone yourself in the Christmas card.  So adorable!  It put a big smile on my heart.  Thank you, all of you!!!

I have to tell you, I’m so enjoying the Kindle from my last birthday still.  I’m currently reading my way through, “World Without End,” by Ken Follett, which is the sequel to, “Pillars of the Earth,” which I also loved.  In fact, they were both recommended to me by Bobbie Eakes, who gave me them in hardcopy before you gave me the gift of the Kindle.  But since they’re both close to 1,000 pages, I can’t tell you how much more enjoyable it is to not have to lug those massive books around everywhere with me.  My shoulders have fared so much better as a result of your dear generosity, and if they were able to speak, they would also thank you.  But, since they are without that capability, I will thank you sincerely and unendingly for them.

Here’s wishing all of you a blessed New Year, filled with good health, abundance in all those areas of necessity for your daily lives, and an overflowing of love and support from those who mean the most, family and dear friends, as you have shown yourself to be for me.  Group hug!!!!!

Forever grateful,
Vincent and Dr. David.
(You see, even he has enough of a heart to be grateful for all of you : )
